Why hire a live-in caregiver?

Live-in caregivers are extremely capable, as many have been trained as caregivers and have had several years experience. Although the emphasis is always on caring for your child (children), a typical caregiver finds time during the day to do various housekeeping tasks. Families with live-in caregivers find that they are able to enjoy more quality time together. In addition, the costs associated with having a live-in caregiver are considerably less than a live-out and even less than daycare (for two or more children).

Do live-in caregivers live in the employer’s home?

Yes, the caregiver requires a private bedroom in your home, as set out by Immigration Canada. Most caregivers have family and friends that they enjoy spending time with and most belong to a church group so will often stay with others on weekends and holidays.
